Walk the National Forest Sept 12th- 20th 2009

What an amazing week we have just had!   I hope many of you encountered some of the 14 people in red sweatshirts working with us in the village.  There were lots of events in the Community coffee shop for all ages, also a pamper morning and a stress and relaxation evening.  As well as being in schools, pubs and other venues, the team were out and about calling on people in their homes to do a Personal Beliefs Survey. The following is a brief summary of the answers given.

During the week they called on about 1000 homes.  Although many people were out 256 people completed the survey.  In answer to the first question “Do you believe in God?” only 35 people said no, 19 were unsure which means 202 people visited are sure that God is real!

As to what God is like, there were a range of answers, but the majority (95) said they thought God was personal.

The question about what happens when we die, again brought a range of answers.  64 people were unsure but 90 believed in a heaven of some sort.

Regarding Jesus, the majority (100) believed he was the only Son of God.

The question people would most like to ask God is why is there so much suffering in the world.

When people were asked if they would like to know God personally only 26 said no with 156 saying yes.

If you are one of that 156 who would like to know God personally, then do get in touch or come to an Alpha course.  A number will be starting shortly and this is a great way of finding out more and exploring the Christian faith.
