School building project

ClassroomWhile we are raising funds for the restoration and development of our own church building, we are also raising funds for a school building project in Kibaya, Tanzania.
Our plan is to raise £10,000 over two to four years. (This is equivalent to a tithe of one tenth of the money we are raising for our own project.)

SchoolThere have been plans to build primary and secondary schools within the Kiteto Christian College however these have been held back due to a lack of funds.  The plan to start the primary school was brought forward during the 2006 famine.  A VSO professional teacher and other volunteers were available and starting the school was as a means to provide both education and food to children during the famine.

Eager to learnCurrently the school has three class rooms.
These are used for English speaking primary school classes in the morning and for Kiswahili speaking classes in the afternoon.  As the current children progress through their grades, a further six classrooms and a store will be needed, resulting in a complete primary school.

Science classAfter this, work will commence on a secondary school.

In addition to giving the opportunity to local children to receive an education the school will also be used as a training centre for teachers who work in the outlying rural schools.

Chris was teaching and also helping Sister Sara with her rural health clinics.

Martin taught Emmanuel how to tell when a computer is beyond repair and Peter the carpenter how to improve his techniques.  He mended locks on toilet doors, made water come out of taps where it previously didn't, and helped Zumbe the electrician to improve his work.
