St John the Baptist
North Street, Whitwick, Leicestershire LE67 5HA
Welcome to Whitwick Parish Church. We are a friendly bunch and we’d be delighted to welcome you whenever or how often you can join us.
· to worship God
· to grow in faith
· to serve the people of our parish and community
· to share Christ’s love and truth through our living witness
Sunday services are usually at 10.30am and 6.00pm alternating Holy Communion with more informal worship – please see What’s On/Diary & Events for specific details of services each Sunday. On fifth Sundays we join together for worship at 10.30am at one of the three churches.
The Church is open from March to October on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings between 10.30am and 12.30pm, with a Coffee Morning on the last Wednesday of each month, (unless we have a funeral or other service). The Church is open on Wednesdays only in December and January.
Baptisms/Christenings usually take place on a first Sunday of the month at 10.30am. Please see Weddings and Baptisms for details of how to book a baptism or your wedding.
The morning service is the main service. This is lively in character. The singing is led by a very able musical director and a small music group. Refreshments are usually served after this service. This is also an opportunity for the ministry of prayer and general socialising.
Evening services are more intimate and reflective in style and content.
We use Common Worship with liturgy, songs and bible readings projected digitally on screens. The music is a mixture of modern and traditional hymns.
Readings and prayers are led by the members of the congregation.
The first Sunday All-age service is family oriented, with activities that include drama and action songs. Tea, coffee and squash are served at 10.30am. Young people actively contribute to these services.
Parking on Sunday mornings
Parking is limited near the church. We have been asked not to park at The Black Horse on Sunday mornings. Please consider car sharing and dropping passengers off and then parking elsewhere. Parking is available at the car park in Vicarage Street (opposite Whitwick Fryer), at Whitwick Park, Mason’s Pharmacy and the Doctors’ surgery - all in North Street and there are a few spaces at the Vicarage (please park courteously and do not block the drive for the bungalow next door). Thank you.
