Friday 1st March World Day of Prayer Service at St Andrew's Church, Thringstone at 2.00pm
This Lent discover how the words Jesus spoke as he was crucified are invitations to each of us - invitations to a dynamic, living faith in Him. Each of the 6 sessions explores one of the sayings of Jesus from the cross and looks at how we can respond in ways that will not only transform our relationship with Him, but potentially the world around us. We will be using Living Faith by Krish Kandiah as our Lent study guide. The studies will cover forgiveness, service, hope, adoption, empathy and trust. There will be at least 3 groups meeting in the benefice:
Monday lunchtime 12.30pm - 2.00pm St Andrew's Church - bring your sandwiches (Contact Jeannette 01530 222142)
Monday evening 7.30pm 55 Rosslyn Road (Contact Terri 01530 832676) BUT 11th March at Diana's 38 Hilary Crescent and 25th March venue TBC
Tuesday fortnightly 2.30pm 13 Hogarth Road (Contact Trevor) but NOT 19th March - a week ahead of other groups until then so 12th March is session 2
Wednesday evening 7.00pm The Vicarage (Contact Liz 01530 589136) Session 4 will probably be on Tues 2nd April
You are welcome at any of these groups but it would help us if you would sign up on the list in church. Please let Terri Skinner know if you would like to purchase a study guide (cost around £5.39) If you are not able to make a session with your regular group please feel free to attend that session elsewhere.

Youth Work We continue to be blessed in the youth groups we hold. At the start of the new term in January 2019 we had in excess of 20 young people attending the lunch club at Castle Rock School on a Thursday lunchtime. This is a regular number increasing most weeks to upwards of 25 young people. Through the lunch club we have been able to start up a new Y Café at St David's which started in October with just 3 boys and has now increased to 12 - a mix of both boys and girls. We have also been helping disciple a group of 10 children in the Whatever Youth Group which is held on a Thursday evening in St John The Baptist Church Hall in Whitwick. As you will mostly be aware of this building is now up for sale and we are seeking new premises so your prayers for this, together with continued growth would be greatly appreciated. We intend to start a new Youth Alpha in March and May encouraging young people from all of the above clubs to come along and learn more about what it means to know and follow Jesus. Again please pray for this club to be able to run, for young people to attend and for them to start a new life with Jesus. Our hope is that this will lead to more regular church attendance and more informed discussions at our groups. In all our groups, the emphasis is on young people making good and well informed life choices and giving them insight into their problems either at school or home, to keep friendships and help them flourish.
