Your local CAP Fresh Start Group can help you break free from life-controlling habits. The next course starts on 26th February 2019 7.30pm-9.30pm at Holy Trinity Church in Ashby.

Ascension Day - Thursday 30th May 2019                                                   We are invited to join St David's for their celebration service at 7.00pm including hot refreshments afterwards.

Third Sundays                                                                                                 In May, June, July and August there will be a Benefice Holy Communion Service at St George's Swannington on the third Sunday of each month at 10.30am. No other services in the Benefice on those Sundays. 

From Sat 21st - Mon 24th June Launde Abbey 900th Anniversary Celebrations including:                                                                                   Sat 22nd June 10.30am-5.00pm The Great Celebration. Join us for this Ancient Wells - Living Water event to mark the 900th anniversary of Launde Abbey: a celebration of the Abbey's anniversary and a great day out for all the family!       The day begins with a great service of celebration led by the Bishops from the dioceses of Leicester and Peterborough. The service will be followed by a hog roast and an afternoon packed with events and activities to suit all ages and tastes.                                                                                                           Sun 23rd June 6.00pm-7.30pm Launde 900: Choirs Together at Launde:         Traditional evensong bringing together the choirs of two cathedrals. Gathered in our event marquee we'll close our Sunday events with classic sung evensong led by choirs of Leicester and Peterborough cathedrals.                         For details of the full programme see flyers in church or visit www.laundeabbey.org.uk and click on Launde 900.  

Ride and Stride - Saturday 14th September 2019                                         Help raise funds for your church!                                                                   Almost 400 churches across the country will be open to the general public from 10am-6pm and all 3 churches in our Benefice will be taking part. Cyclists, walkers, runners, horse riders, mobility scooter drivers, etc are sponsored for the number of churches and chapels they visit on the day. Roy Webster has been sponsored for the last two years riding his static bike at SJTB Whitwick! You can also be sponsored as a volunteer helping at one of our churches on the day! Please take a sponsorship form from church or visit http://www.lhct.org.uk/ride_stride.html                                                     Speak to Roy (Whitwick), Pat (Thringstone) or Liz (Swannington) for more details. The money raised by each participant is shared equally between the church and Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust (LHCT). Our churches have benefitted from LHCT grants so please get involved this year.                                                       The churches will be open 10am-6pm on the day. Churches Together Retreat Day - Saturday 28th September 10am-3pm     This year's retreat day will be led by Emily Walker. Emily is an accomplished musician and was Musician in Residence at Launde Abbey for some time as well as a musician for the Iona Community and a liturgist for the Retreat Association. She leads quiet days and retreats from time to time. She has been playing the organ at St Andrew's Thringstone for us on Sunday mornings for the last few months.
